You never have to upgrade. Version 1 keeps working on your Macs and PCs, and gets security fixes for a year after 2.0.
What goes into a 2.0
Only something big and new, like an iPad and Apple TV app or playing away from home. Support for more graphics cards is not a reason for a paid upgrade.
How to upgrade
When 2.0 is out, Overtoaster shows the upgrade in Settings → Licence, with your price already applied.
